Cultural Resources Management (CRM) has become increasingly important to the continued development of a stable and growing economy. As new growth and development are taking place throughout the Carolinas, environmental and cultural significance of the land must be evaluated and federal and state laws and compliance must be met. Cultural Resources Assessment Group (CRAG) fills this need. CRAG also plays a role in educating students and the public about the roll of archaeology in the multiple facets of every day life, not just an activity for meeting compliance requirements in an effort to afford new construction. As a result, this has led to work with archaeological field schools in the training students in the use of specialty equipment and techniques. Through this perspective the company builds and establishes ties and working relationships with universities and other research institutions.

Cultural Resources Assessment Group LLC (CRAG) was founded in 1998 to undertake the varied tasks necessary to ensure that clients are in compliance with State and Federal regulations relevant to potentially present cultural resources.

Our goals as a company are to help clients (engineers, land owners, developers, civic groups, etc.) through the sometimes-complicated compliance process, understand the resources they may encounter, and where possible develop mechanisms for site protection and where necessary undertake mitigation processes.
Projects

We have extensive experience conducting background research and review, as well as all phases of archaeological survey, and geophysical mapping. By working with State Historic Preservation Officers, we are able to develop appropriate field methodologies for each project and/or site.
